چکیده

2 Summary 2D cadastre systems have shown limitations, especially when describing complex situations to various stakeholders. 3D information models for cadastre are now increasingly implemented to overcome these restrictions. However, 3D systems are not without their challenges and problems to be avoided. The challenges include: guaranteeing topological consistency when building 3D volumes, detecting overlap in 3D, simplifying the BIM model for the 3D property registration process, acquiring the 3D property data in a cost-effective manner, and associating 3D geometries with properties in a 3D GIS efficiently. Nevertheless, the geospatial and engineering industries have evolved very quickly during the past few years. Hence, the development of 3D GIS technologies offers new methods to represent property ownership in 3D and to associate detailed attribution to those representations. Among the latest advancements in 3D GIS technology, solid modeling techniques can be used to create valid volumetric geometries efficiently, clash detection can be used to detect interference between objects, point cloud can be used as a reference to support the direct drawing of the 3D property, and 3D cadastre information can be managed and shared with a 3D spatial database.

A 3D Digital Cadastre for New Zealand and the International Opportunity

New Zealand has a legal 3D cadastre, and has done since the inception of its cadastral survey and tenure systems around 150 years ago. However, the digital representation of the cadastre is 2D with 3D situations handled via static plan, section and elevation images and supporting textual information. Work is currently underway to develop a 3D digital cadastre that will enable the 3D spatial ext...
